EU Council President travels with Pro Sky to historic opening of borders

Since the end of December passport controls between Germany, Poland and seven other countries in the east of the European Union have become a thing of the past. Together with EU Council President Jose Socrates and Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the EU Commission, German Chancellor Angela Merkel symbolically opened the border between Germany and Poland.

The fact that the two highest ranking officials of the European Union were able to celebrate this historic moment at the border crossing point in Zittau together with the Chancellor was also thanks to Pro Sky. The Portuguese government, entrusted with the EU Council Presidency up until the beginning of the new year, had commissioned flight professionals from Cologne to take care of the flight logistics for the two top European politicians and their delegations.

• Pro Sky’s flight professionals met all the customer’s requirements perfectly. Together with the Slovenian airline Adria Airways, they organised this demanding flight programme: 
• In the space of three days, the delegation of the EU Council President participated in ceremonies in four towns to mark the opening of borders between 12 different countries.
• Pro Sky’s Client Service Manager tailored the flight planning exactly to the proceedings of the celebrations. This was flexibly adjusted to last-minute changes to the schedule during the course of the trip.
• Pro Sky and Adria Airways guaranteed the highest safety standards for the group which included three heads of government, the President of the EU Commission, seven ministers plus representatives of the press.
• The catering was specially tailored to the occasion and to the VIP passengers. Consequently, there was a congenial atmosphere of hospitality on board. 
• In order to underline the significance of this state visit, Pro Sky had the aircraft painted with the official logo of the Portuguese EU Council Presidency.
