An unspoiled paradise. A resort that caters to guests’ every need and desire. Sometimes, the search for a true escape from it all takes VIP travelers off the map. By keeping their needs on our radar, we make the trip to Hostal de la Gavina as exceptional as the stay.
Hostal de la Gavina celebrates 85 years as a Costa Brava holiday haven
Just one hour north of Barcelona and its trendsetters, tapas bars, and tourists, a secluded seaside property offers an escape that’s available only to a privileged few. There, guests at the Hostal de la Gavina luxuriate in a world apart from the “real” world.
The magic begins with the physical setting.
“We have quite a unique location on a small peninsula,” says Christian Kirschner, director of sales and marketing. “S’Agaró is one of the remote, unspoiled spots along the coastline. I always call it the true Mediterranean experience.”
A customized getaway
The grounds, architecture, and interior design immediately mark this resort as a place of privilege. Rooms and suites are decorated individually and can be matched to guests’ pleasures and preferences. Staff members are dedicated to a standard of service that makes each stay memorable. The feeling is not being at a hotel or resort as much as having been invited to stay at a mansion or grand estate.
Privacy, tranquility, and a sense of reconnection with the surrounding natural beauty are hallmarks of a holiday at Hostal de la Gavina. But history, gastronomy, sports, arts, and culture are all within easy reach for those who seek them.
The medieval walled city of Girona, with its famed Jewish Quarter, is nearby, as is the home of Salvador Dalí. The resort can arrange private guided tours of Girona and ensure that guests secure one of the limited reservations available to tour the Dalí house and grounds.
Golf enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice at local courses, including PGA Golf de Catalunya, Golf D’Aro, Golf Costa Brava, and Golf de Pals. There are boat excursions from the hotel along with water skiing, kayaking, sailing, bicycling, horseback riding, and walks along the historic coastline known as the Camino de Ronda, whose path begins on the hotel grounds.
Hotel staff can make all arrangements in advance so that guests arrive to find their stay already organized in accordance with their wishes. “That’s what we stand for, and what we offer,” Kirschner says.
A culinary destination
If all that activity sparks an appetite, the area offers unparalleled options for world-class dining at 14 local Michelin-starred restaurants. Hostal de la Gavina can arrange for transportation to and from these dining establishments via taxi or chauffeured car. And for guests who are content to remain on the premises, the hotel also employs a Michelin-starred chef on site.
Owned and operated by the same family for four generations, Hostal de la Gavina celebrates its 85th anniversary this year. Catalonia’s only five-star Grand Luxe resort hotel, it has been listed by The Leading Hotels of the World since 1962.
