Azure-blue water, imposing landscapes and state-of-the-art MICE infrastructure. This September, nine Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) planners from the German-speaking region discovered that Dalmatia is truly a gem among MICE destinations on the maximice - Fam Trip to Zadar. But the most important objective of the four-day trip was to see the destination from their customers’ point of view, make contacts, try out activities themselves and thus learn which groups would especially enjoy a trip to the Dalmatian region.

“Finally, real face-to-face conversations once again!”

For many event planners, this was their first familiarisation trip in a long time. According to Pro Sky’s Daniel Kusenbach, this was evident: “After two years of abstinence, I was not the only one happy and excited to be able to experience destinations and travel options on the ground again.” For many, it was the first research trip they had undertaken since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic. An important milestone. “Interpersonal dialogue, face-to-face networking, and reading someone’s facial expressions and gestures all help to create trust and form the foundation for building lasting business relationships,” continues Daniel Kusenbach. “Virtual worlds and communication are unable to achieve this depth. That is why I am all the happier that all the participants enjoyed the Fam Trip to the Dalmatian region.”

“We keep our Fam Trips small and informal”

“Apart from the attractive destinations, it is the partners, above all, who really make a good Fam Trip,” explains Daniel Kusenbach. Under the coordination of Markus Lüthge (maximice), all three partners were actively involved in the organisation of the trip. While Natascha Hayden-Lugmayer of Falkensteiner Hotels took care of the accommodation, excellent catering and on-site activities, Markus Lüthge of maximice organised the programme tailored specifically to the MICE planners, and Daniel Kusenbach of Pro Sky organised the flight tickets. “Markus and I were both responsible for signing up the participants. We made sure that the group remained small and informal. It is important to have time for face-to-face conversations and create the right vibe.” Ultimately, nine senior and director-level event managers were selected from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

“An inspiring trip with informative presentations. Many thanks to Pro Sky, Falkensteiner Hotels and Residences, and MAXIMICE. Zadar is an ideal destination for MICE as well as leisure trips, as it is easily accessible by plane or car. The Falkensteiner Punta Skala Hotel occupies a beautiful position overlooking the sea. The premises and infrastructure are state-of-the-art. The wide range of leisure and sports activities is also fabulous and the resort has much to offer in terms of its cuisine. Depending on the duration of the event, it would also be possible to include excursions to the surrounding national parks on land or on the water. The hotel's own boat jetty is also pretty cool from where cruises or team sailing regattas could be organised. All of my requirements were met – I can only heartily recommend it.”

“Information coupled with culinary highlights & plenty of action”

  • Punta Skala Resort  tour including different room types, restaurants and the Acquapura Spa (spa & wellness zone)
  • Experience tour of the recently opened Fortis Club (multifunctional meeting/conference/function room + outdoor // indoor sports club including basketball, tennis, beach volleyball, gym as well as an e-sports arena and bowling)
  • Regional liqueur tasting and sushi cooking demonstration in the Punta Skala
  • Historic Zadar / guided tour of the city with viewings of outdoor event locations
  • Visit to the  Arsenal  event location in Zadar Boat trip from Zadar to the Punta Skala Resort
  • Wine tasting and dinner at the vineyard Kraljevski Vinogradi
  • Water sports activities at the club and along the coast (kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkelling, water skiing, windsurfing etc.)

“For me, the Falkensteiner Iadera located very close to Zadar stands out above all on account of its strictly environmental water management: the ladera hotel’s total water consumption is obtained from sea water using an in-house desalination and water treatment plant. This takes it, in my view, from being a very good hotel product to being an absolute highlight, and one to which you can send groups with a good conscience, indeed should send. For me, the Fortis Club significantly elevates the ladera from being a very good business hotel to being an outstanding conference location. And when it comes to water quality: when in Croatia, I want to swim. And the water at the ladera is simply awesome: quality, colour, temperature – just fantastic.”
